Part the Blind — a poem

The dogs bark still

the park still laughs

siren echos its pain

same as yesterday

car rumbles by

window uptight

a glance of fear

returned

Maybe the virus

roams the street

Backward I retreat

I lock the door

Part the blind

the figure walks on

News head flicker

death is coming

yes, another

then another

someone’s mother

suits behind suits

the experts play

serious and by demand

stay in place

don’t worry

be happy

money to rain

like manna

live from TV town

no business

no product

my neighbor

unloading the SUV

with all but the shelf

I wave

I part the blind

neighbor is home

garage door closed
